A streaker ran into more trouble than expected during a limited-overs cricket international when he was flattened by Australian allrounder Andrew Symonds.

The man ran onto the pitch, naked, and toward Symonds at the non-striker’s end Tuesday as he attempted to evade police and ground security staff at the Australia vs. India match.

Symonds stood his ground and leaned into the streaker in a rugby-style shoulder charge, dropping him instantly to the ground.

The streaker was escorted from the field by police.

He faces a fine up to 3,000 Australian dollars (C$2,775) for the pitch invasion and is expected to be charged with willful exposure by Queensland state police.

Australia was 34 for three at the time, chasing 259 to win and keep the three-match finals series alive.

Symonds, a muscular allrounder who did some off season training with Australian National Rugby League powerhouse club the Brisbane Broncos, did not seem distracted by his brush with the pitch invader.

A convicted sex offender has won $10m in the Massachusetts state lottery in the US, but could face jail for failing to tell police he had moved.

Daniel Snay’s win attracted the attention of the police in Connecticut, where he had lived for many years. They say he never informed them of his move.

He faces up to five years in prison if convicted of failing to notify authorities of his change of address.

His lawyer says when Snay moved, he registered only in the new state.

“If that is incorrect, we’ll have to fix it,” lawyer Joseph Fabbricotti said. “He wasn’t running. He’s been living here for four years.”

Connecticut police said Snay had not confirmed his address for the Connecticut sex offender registry since 2004.

“We’re trying to determine when he moved, why he didn’t register with us and whether any charges are warranted,” a spokesman said.

“She admitted to a full sexual relationship with a student in the car parking lot,” said Chief Leo McCarthy of the Moon Township Police Department.

Police said the boy’s cell phone contained photos and text messages from Chester, 26, of Scott.

“She sent nude photos,” said McCarthy. “Believe me, it was her.”

In one text message, police said, Chester called the boy “sexy” and made a graphic reference to his body.

Beijingers were warned to stay indoors on Thursday as pollution levels across the capital hit the top of the scale, despite repeated assurances by the government that air quality was improving.

“This is as bad as it can get,” a spokeswoman for the Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau told AFP.

“Level five is the worst level of air pollution. This is as bad as it has been all year.”

According to the bureau’s website, 15 out of the 16 pollution monitoring stations in urban Beijing registered a “five” for air quality rating.
